Spirit Minutes: Finding Connection in Everyday Life

Have you ever been in the middle of an ordinary task—washing the dishes, folding laundry, or driving when suddenly a loved one in Spirit pops into your mind? I like to call these moments “spirit minutes.”

I often remind my clients that these moments aren’t random. They’re little visits, nudges from Spirit, yet we so often dismiss them as fleeting thoughts in our busy minds, carry on about our day, and miss the opportunity for connection.

I’ll never forget one of my own spirit minutes. After dropping my youngest child off for her last day of high school (it was an extra big deal for me, as she was the final of my four children to complete high school!), as I pulled out of the parking lot, I felt my dad’s presence so strongly it was almost overwhelming. Clairaudibly, I heard him say, “Well, love, that’s the end of an era.” It was as if he were sitting in the passenger seat. I could feel his presence so strongly. I replied, “It sure is, Dad. Thanks for being here. I love and miss you.” I was so grateful for that connection and for the acknowledgment of such a milestone moment.

The next time a loved one comes to mind, pause, take a deep breath, say hello, share a little about your day, and then simply take a moment to notice. You may feel a memory wash over you, catch a familiar scent, or experience a quiet comfort in your heart. It’s in these everyday moments that we often feel our loved ones most strongly. Spirit is always closer than we think. We just have to take a minute to listen.
